Donate today...together, we make our community stronger
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Established in 1931 – 92 years, the men and women of the Point Lookout-Lido Volunteer Fire Department have answered the needs of the community twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty five days a Year. This past year, the Department responded to more than five hundred calls for help. Now we ask you to answer our call!
Your tax-deductible donation goes to the Fire Department and allows us to fund annual events such as the Memorial Day Service and Breakfast, the July 4th Parade, and assists with our fire prevention programs. At the same time, your tax dollars cover the Fire District’s cost of maintaining buildings, equipment, and the fueling of vehicles.
We continue to expand our training to include responses to water rescues, natural disasters, active shooter situations, terrorism, and any new threats that we may encounter. In addition to these concerns, members continue to spend thousands of hours in training every year so that they can be current in the latest lifesaving, firefighting, and rescue techniques. Taking on all these challenges help us meet the needs of the community.
We thank you for your generous support in the past. You benefit from not only a tax-deductible donation, but also from the peace of mind of knowing that you are helping your friends, family, and neighbors. We give unselfishly to you; we simply ask for the same in return.
We ask that you keep your house number visible for all emergency situations, and we recommend changing your batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors when you turn your clocks forward or back. In the winter months, we look for your assistance in helping clear snow from nearby fire hydrants.
Finally, we ask if you have ever considered joining the Fire Department. If you, or any member of your family, wish to join our ranks, please let us know on the return form in the lower right-hand corner of the donation card. We are accepting new members as well as young people, ages 14-17 into our Explorers/Junior Firefighters Program. New members receive all the necessary training and equipment at no cost to them. All we ask is for your time. Many fire and EMS courses are now recognized for college credit, and legislation has been approved that provides tuition assistance to Nassau Community College for active volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel. Additionally, you may be eligible for a NYS income tax credit, or a property tax credit, equivalent to 10% of your home’s assessed value.
On behalf of the chiefs, officers, and members of the Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department, we thank you for your continued support.
